Roaring Springs
This is the largest water park (17 acres) in the Northwest, and is located a few miles west of Boise off interstate 84. The water park provides relief from the relentless heat of a typical Idaho summer day. Bright yellow slides twist and turn high above the park. Children scream in delight as they fly down the serpentine water slides.

Roaring Springs features more than 20 attractions, including the Viper's Vortex bowl slide, which is a four-story two passenger flume ride that ends with a swirl around the inside of a giant bowl. Mammoth Canyon is a four-person family raft ride that spins and feels like a bobsled on water. There is also a wave pool, float river, tube rides, two kiddie play areas, and concessions. Group rates are available with reservation.

In January 2008, the owners of Roaring Springs Water Park purchased the 8-acre Boondocks Fun Center (also listed here), which is the largest arcade and recreation center in the valley. That means you are able to buy one ticket to go to both on the same day, which is very convenient as they both sit side-by-side on Overland Road.

Starlight Mountain Theatre
Starlight Mountain Theatre is an outdoor summer musical repertory dinner theatre (June - September) that offers professional Broadway musicals in a mountain setting on the bank of the Middle Fork of the Payette River in Crouch. The theatre seats 300 patrons in stadium-style seating where the designed elevation creates a perfect view from every seat. Since mountain air can be cool in the evening, patrons are reminded to bring jackets and blankets just in case. During the summer, Starlight Mountain Theatre offers a full dinner Thursdays through Saturdays with 24-hour-in- advance reservations, plus concessions at the amphitheater.

The park sits on 17 beautiful acres of meadow with access to the river and to the Starlight Mountain Theatre. There is space for RVs with full hook-ups, as well as campsites on 17 acres. Two sites are right on the river and the other three sit about 100 yards from the river. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Although there are only five designated sites, there is plenty of room to accommodate large groups. The sites have access to port-a-potties, but have no additional amenities. Gas, groceries, restaurants, and shopping are available in the immediate area.

A delicious meal (price included in the ticket fee) is served Thursday through Saturday evenings at 6:30 pm with 24 hours advance reservation required (reservations must be made by 5:00 pm the day before). A different theme dinner is served for each show. Vegetarian meal is available on request. See their web site for the menu.

Starlight Mountain Theatre also performs during the rest of the year, but at three different locations: the Star, on Century Way in Boise, Capital High Auditorium near the corner of Goddard Rd. and Milwaukee Rd. in Boise, and at the Nampa Civic Center Brandt Auditorium. Check their web site's winter schedule dates and times.

Thunder Mountain Line
This train ride offers amazing scenery as it winds around a narrow canyon along the beautiful Payette River. Depending on your route, the train ride will venture through sagebrush covered hill sides, pristine national forest, mountain meadows and range lands.

As you roll out of the station, you will travel along the same mountain trails as the settlers did in the early part of the last century. The railroad was completed in 1914 to serve the mining and timber industry. You can enjoy fresh mountain air and scenery on open air cars while you relive a piece of Idaho railroad history...

The Thunder Mountain Ride offers four different routes throughout the year: the Horseshoe Bend Route, the Carbarton Route, the Cascade Route, and the Mountour Route.

These different routes feature wonderful events throughout the year. Dinner train rides offer an evening of wonderful food and local musicians as you experience the nostalgia of a train ride. Mystery dinners engage guests in hilarious role-solving story lines presented my Starlight Mountain Theatre.
