Bogus
Basin is much more than the day hill skiers would expect of
an eight-chairlift serving three mountains so close to a
city (16 miles from Boise). It is a community-owned,
full-service destination resort, and has 360-degree skiing
around its highest peak, Shafer Butte, at 7,582 feet, which
is reached on the front side by the Superior lift, and on
the back by the Pine Creek lift. The back side is like the
front, only pumped up. The other peak, 7,070-foot Dear
Point, is accessed by the Deer Point lift from Bogus Creek
Lodge and via the Showcase lift.
What about the name Bogus Basin? Legend has it that fool's
gold, iron pyrite, was mined there and marketed to gullible
city folks as the real thing. However, there was real stuff
in the area, and all the ski runs are named after legitimate
mines.
Bogus Basin also has a complete Nordic program, with 23
miles of groomed trails, rentals, lessons and a waxing bench
all at the Nordic Center (Frontier Point Lodge).
The mountain also has two restaurants, as well as the
70-unit mid-mountain Pioneer Inn. Child care starts at 10
months. The 800-foot tubing runs give you a good run for
your money. All tubers must be at least 36 inches tall.
Tubing is a great kick-in-the-pants if you haven't done it
in a while, especially on a groomed course without the pesky
trees that normally get in the way. Even getting back up the
hill is made easy, as the paddle tow does the work while you
kick back in the tube and watch the scenery unfold.
Bogus Basin is usually open until 10 pm seven nights a week
from December to mid-April. Discounted Season passes are
available for new residents: Details on how to take
advantage of this special offer can be found at
bogusbasin.org under "Season Passes/Tickets".

in Idaho's booming Treasure Valley. They offer charter
service for groups large and small: hotel transfers,

Brundage
Mountain Resort is a medium-sized resort located high in the
mountains of central Idaho 100 miles north of Boise, or 8
miles from McCall. It is best known for its powder-packed
glades and luxuriously wide groomed runs, and has a
reputation for some of the lightest powder in the Pacific
Northwest, as well as one of the best snowcat skiing
operations in the country. There are 44 ski trails served by
5 lifts with over 300 inches of snowfall annually.
Brundage is definitely an underrated resort. The skiing is
pleasant and not crowded with occasional challenging drops
but mostly cruisers. Intermediates find this mountain a real
delight. Advanced and expert skiers and riders should head
into the trees or chutes of the Hidden Valley area. Payette
Lake, which Brundage overlooks, is beautiful and sparsely
populated, with many outdoor activities. From the top of the
mountain, you can see the Salmon River Mountains, Oregon's
Eagle Cap Wilderness and the Seven Devils towering over
Hells Canyon, America's deepest river gorge.
Summit elevation: 7,640 feet; vertical drop: 1,800 feet;
skiable acres: 1,500; Night skiing: none.

Jetstream
Aviation is an FAA certified part 141 fixed wing flight
school in Idaho. They are committed to customer service in
the most safe, efficient and professional environment. They
tailor the training to each student, considering their
background, future needs, schedule and concerns. They make
you (the student) the priority.
Location
Jetstream is located at the Boise/Gowen Field in Boise,
Idaho at "The Hanger" on the north side of the airport. The
airspace at Boise provides the most ideal situation in the
United Sates for flight training. The airspace is busy
enough to learn how to fly with the "big boys" and to use
proper radio techniques for flying in any airspace in the
United States. On the other hand, the volume of traffic is
not so overwhelming that the training is not feasible. Also,
the air traffic controllers at Boise are some of the most
professional and friendly people in the United States.
Training Syllabus
Jetstream utilizes the Jeppesen "Guided Flight Discovery"
System. Training is recorded after every flight in the
student's personal logbook and training folder. A syllabus
is used for training to let the student plan for future
flights and see the overall picture of flight training.
Using the syllabus makes training shorter and therefore less
expensive. It also nullifies the frustration of not knowing
what the next flight is going to be about and what flight
training is needed to finish the certificate or rating. Once
again, these procedures are in place to better serve you,
the student.
"Finish Up" Courses
Jetstream specializes in "finish up" courses. There are many
students who have started their training elsewhere but have
not finished for many reasons including financing, schedule,
and not being satisfied with the training or service that
particular school or individual had offered. There are
common problems and Jetstream guarantees that as a student
you will be fully satisfied with the service and training
offered. On your initial contact with Jetstream, a time will
be set up so listen to your background, questions and goals
in order to formulate an individual plan and schedule to
succeed.
GPS, Personal Aircraft Training, etc...
Jetstream also provides instruction in your airplane to
include certified - advanced Cirrus instruction, pilot
interview - simulator preparation, certificates, ratings and
biennial flight reviews. Some popular requests include: an
understanding of Global Positioning System (GPS) and
utilization, radio techniques and specific airstrip
procedures.
The Discovery Flight special is perfect for anyone
interested in flying. It includes approximately one-half
hour of you flying the aircraft and as much time as needed
on the ground to answer any questions about flight training,
flight careers, or financing. Contact Jetstream Aviation
today to schedule this great flight. The cost is only $59.00
for the flight.

There
can only be one original ski resort, and since 1936, Sun
Valley has held that distinction. Born out of a desire to
bring the magic of the European ski resorts to America, Sun
Valley quickly became a phenomenon without peer on this
continent or any other.

From the crisp air atop Bald Mountain to the quaint walking
village below, there is no other place quite like Sun
Valley, regardless of the season.
Bald Mountain can be accessed at River Run on the south and
Warm Springs on the north. During the winter, finely
appointed day lodges, a total of 14 lifts and 65 varied runs
await on either side of the mountain. Bald Mountain's
seemingly endless runs stretch 2,054 acres to the edges of
the Sawtooth National Forest and slide another 3,400
vertical feet, top to bottom. During the summer, the world
famous mountain is open to sightseers and adventurers,
whether you want a relaxing day among the wildflowers, or a
challenging journey through the rugged beauty of Idaho's
wilderness. Baldy, as it is affectionately called, offers
nearly 28 miles of hiking and biking trails. Feel free to
tackle the trails yourself, or take along one of our expert
guides to point out all the little things that make the Bald
Mountain experience so unique.

Sun
Valley has been acclaimed as the resort that offers more
recreational opportunities than any other destination resort
in the country. And, with the exception of the nearby
wilderness adventures, every activity is located within the
village or within a very short walk. The resort is a true
paradise for families who want to experience separate
vacations together all within one quaint walking village
surrounded by the majestic Northern Rockies.

Tamarack
Resort is a new four-season mountain resort in the Long
Valley of west central Idaho about 90 miles north of Boise,
west of the village of Donnelly and located on the west
shore of Lake Cascade in Idaho's gorgeous and largely
untouched Payette River Mountains region.
Tamarack's alpine ski area officially opened with chairlift
service in December 2004. The first two seasons, Tamarack
offered only snowcat-serviced terrain, enough to familiarize
skiers and riders with the mountain's bounty and make them
want to come back for more. It now has Discovery Way, a
group of dome buildings that house necessary rental, retail
and repair shops, eateries, skier services, children's
center, food market and clinic. Its first hotel, The Lodge
at Osprey Meadows, sits nearby with luxury rooms and condos,
gourmet dining, hot tub and pools, fitness center and the
full-service Sante Spa. Other lodging options include a
neighborhood of Hansel & Gretel cottages, each with a
private hot tub, and estate homes and chalets. All are
within walking distance of the village, but a free
Dial-A-Ride shuttle is available with a phone call.
Tamarack has a lift-served summit elevation of 7,660 feet
above sea level on West Mountain and a vertical drop of over
2,700 feet. It's above tree line, but not by much. The top
third is sparsely treed, but farther down the mountain,
trails lace their way through the forest. Eventually the
resort plans to have eleven lifts - seven of them high-speed
- and 2,100 skiable acres. Seven lifts are presently running
- three high-speed quads - accessing 39 runs and several
pockets of glades, one that is a grove of Tamarack trees
(hence the name), where the composition of that tree species
provides excellent tree skiing and riding. Grooming on the
cruisers is impeccable, and improvements to snowmaking focus
high-traffic areas. The resort limits Alpine tickets to
2,000 people per day. The summit receives an average of 300
inches of snowfall, and snowmaking is available on the lower
runs, due to poor snow cover. The terrain is rated at 17%
novice, 44% intermediate, and 39% advanced. For the cross
country skier, there are over 18 miles of Nordic trails.
Lodging packages include backcountry experience trips, lift
tickets, and snowmobile trips.
Summertime at Tamarack is also truly a magical time. The
mountains offer crystalline alpine lakes filled with trout.
Trails traverse the meadow and mountain slopes for hiking
and biking to your heart's contents. Summer activities
(available mid-May through October) at Tamarack include
golf, mountain biking, waterfront activities, guided hiking
tours, rafting and fishing.
Golf
Osprey Meadows, a Robert Trent Jones II signature 18-hole
golf course, opened in May 2006. The course is just
southeast of the village and ski area base, at an average
elevation of 4,850 feet. The back tees play at 7,319 yards,
with 100 bunkers distributed on the course. Instruction at
the golf course is provided by the Jack Nicklaus Academy of
Golf.

Zipline Tours
A zip-line tour is a harnessed ride on steel wire cables
stretched from tree to tree, which consists of a pulley
suspended on a cable mounted on an incline. The user is
propelled by gravity as he traverses from the top to the
bottom of the inclined cable by holding on to the
free-moving pulley.
Distance from Boise: 100 miles from Boise Airport on Hwy.
